Chemical Free Cleaning

A dirty BBQ plate is both unsightly and unhealthy. Leaving black specks on your cooking is the least of your worries. All the charred meat scraps and used grease can clog up your arteries and your digestive system. This can lead to heart problems, cholesterol and cancer. There are various chemical cleaners and brushes available. But is the residue left by the chemicals worst than the grease it removed? Not quite, if rinsed off properly, but the fumes could kill you (joking).

I’m about to show you an easy, environmentally friendly alternative method to clean your BBQ.  All you need is a scraper or wire brush, some grass clippings or newspaper, water and cooking oil.

  1. Scrap off large pieces of burnt matter.
  2. Use a handful of grass clippings or scrunched up newspaper to absorb the excess grease from the BBQ.
  3. Continue to rub the BBQ plate with grass clippings until all grease is absorbed.
  4. Turn BBQ on low heat. Pour water on BBQ and place lid on if it is a hooded model. Let the steam circulate until it dries off.
  5. let BBQ plate cool down.
  6. Seal the plate with fresh cooking oil.

Now your BBQ should be almost as good as new, ready for your next party.
